Welcome May!
We love you!
Lush green with flowers everywhere - what's not to love about May? Let's decide now to be in love with our own lives this month - nurturing ourselves with childlike delight and deep compassion.
Love,
Jane
In this issue:
Kindness really is a superpower.
It may not come with a cape or a laser beam, but it has the quiet strength to transform lives, build bridges, and shift entire cultures. In a world that often glorifies speed, dominance, and self-interest, kindness can seem like a soft or secondary trait—but in truth, it’s radically powerful.
In a time when division and burnout are widespread, kindness is rebellious and courageous. It’s a choice that says, “I see your humanity, even when it's hard.” That makes it not just a superpower—but maybe the one we need most.
Even short meditation—just a few minutes a day—can have a surprisingly profound impact on your mental, emotional, and physical well-being. While long sessions may deepen the benefits, science and experience show that consistency matters more than duration.
For one thing it REDUCES STRESS FAST : Just 2–5 minutes of focused breathing or mindfulness can activate the parasympathetic nervous system, lowering cortisol levels and calming your mind almost instantly.
Here’s a simple and powerful mantra for reducing stress:
"Inhale calm, exhale tension."
You can use it like this:
This mantra helps anchor your attention and signals your body to relax.

The basics of gratitude are simple, yet deeply impactful. At its core, gratitude is the conscious practice of noticing and appreciating the good in your life, whether big or small, internal or external.
May Gratitude Challenge: Gratitude for my body! Thank your body for something it allows you to do—walk, breathe, rest, hug. Write a short thank-you note to it or at least take a moment to dwell in thankfulness.
Practicing gratitude rewires the brain to focus more on the positive, increasing overall happiness, reducing stress, and improving relationships.
So if I were giving people one instruction, I would say work on yourself. Have compassion for yourself. Allow yourself to be beautiful, and all the rest will follow.

Words of Wisdom
For May let's do a Move Every Day (for at least 15 minutes). If you are someone who works out already you may not need this encouragement. I, for example, work out 5 days a week. That said - adding in a short walk on my off days actually sounds pretty good.
And, of course, a 15 minute walk would work. If you are not moving much at all this might be a great thing for you!
Obviously we also need to scale this to our age and fitness level. If you need help getting started with something for beginners I really recommend Yes2Next on YouTube. Fun and engaging, they are also encouraging and careful about form.
Moving our bodies is certainly a way to remember to be grateful them!
Magical Pink Sauerkraut
We make sauerkraut all the time at our house. This masterpiece of beauty came about when I added purple carrots to the mix! I just love it. Served here with scrambled eggs (with veggies).
What makes fermented food magical isn’t just the transformation itself—though turning cabbage into tangy, bubbling sauerkraut feels like alchemy—it’s the way fermentation enhances flavor, nutrition, and preservation all at once. The microbes involved not only intensify taste (making sharp cheeses sharper, pickles zestier, and soy sauce deeply umami) but also unlock nutrients, boost probiotics, and extend shelf life.
Our sauerkraut is not the super sour German kind - I love that too but maybe not for breakfast? This kraut was left on the counter to ferment for 4 weeks. Taste is bright and tangy and the texture is CRUNCHY!
Clean Food Living on YouTube taught me to make it:

That is to her masterclass = but I recommend her entire channel.
For May we are recommending "HEAL" by Kelly Noonan Gores.
About HEAL: Go on an epic scientific and spiritual journey exploring how the human body has the incredible ability to heal itself. Translated into twenty-two languages, this bestselling book is filled with empowering knowledge perfect for fans of Deepak Chopra and Anita Moorjani. The documentary is amazing! Highly recommend.
This is Kelly's Instagram account - a great place to hook up.
NOTE: We do NOT make a commission if you purchase our book recommendations. Just sharing cool stuff with friends feels right. Right?
